Well, I’m the World’s Leading Authority, The WLA.
Sort of. I’m actually Jeff Stepp, but I’m often prone to expressing opinions on just about everything, and I’m almost always stubbornly convinced I’m right. Given this penchant, my dad once gave me said nickname, quite sardonically as you might imagine. Unfortunately, though, the handle stuck. Even when I was wrong.
Just think of me as part Bill Mahar, part Douglas Adams. But only half as creepy, and half as funny.
This blog, and accompanying Twitter feed (@TheWLAdotcom), will be highly observational, occasionally insightful, and possibly entertaining, if you’re lucky. If you’re unlucky, hate sarcasm, or think the phrase “tongue-in-cheek” is just a ninth-grade make-out move, well, nobody’s perfect. Maybe this is more your speed.
What will you see here? Well, I don’t know exactly. Ironic, I realize, given my assumed title. But I can tell you everything’s fair game. I like to think, a lot, and often enough it’s intelligent. So basically whatever my warped mind spits out, I’ll print, and probably offend somebody, somewhere. Because, really, if you’re not offending somebody at least a little bit, you’re likely not trying hard enough. Which means there’s a good chance you’re wrong.
I can tell you this. For your reading pleasure, I’ll divide my posts up into three “Attention Spans”:
*MTV – for those looking for toot-it-and-boot-it WLA.
*USA Today – slightly longer, though not guaranteed to be funnier, WLA.
*NPR – some real WLA blathering on.
In addition to regular posts, I’ll also write some specialty types of posts, some of which will include:
*YOU DECIDE – A question I’ve been thinking about and need some help with.
*WLT – World’s Leading Tweets: A collection of any tweets not making the blog.
*Whatever else I think of. Or steal from people smarter than me.
So whenever you’re bored at work pretending to look busy, tired of watching your 5th consecutive episode of 30 Rock, or otherwise in need of something to fill your precious time, come visit me at The WLA. I’ll try to post often. Come here to agree with me, or even better, disagree with me. You won’t regret it. I mean, I know these things. I’m the WLA.
